Frequently Asked Quesitons

At Redbud Lane Studio, we're dedicated to ensuring that your wedding invitation experience is seamless and enjoyable. Our Resource Center serves as a comprehensive guide to answer your questions about our services, processes, and more.

  • What printing methods do you offer for custom invitations?

We offer a variety of printing methods including:

    • Digital Flat Printing

    • Letterpress

    • Thermography

    • Foil Stamping

    • Engraving

    • Blind Embossing

Find out more about these processes here.

  • Do you rush orders?

We currently do not offer rush orders. However, if you're concerned about your timeline, please inquire to see if we can accommodate your needs. Fill out our custom form, and we will respond with a timeframe for production.

  • How many invitations should I order?

Base your quantity on the number of households rather than the total number of guests. We suggest organizing a spreadsheet with your guest names and addresses. This will help you determine how many households need an invitation. Our invitations come in increments of 25 (or 10 depending on the printing process). For example, if you have 113 households, you would want to order 125 invitations.

  • Do you work with brides who are not local to the Greenville, South Carolina area?

Absolutely! We work with brides across the United States. We can coordinate entirely via email and can also schedule a phone consultation if desired.

  • How soon should I place my order if I am ordering custom invitations?

It's never too early to start! We prefer a longer timeline for custom invitations to ensure a smooth and stress-free process. Ideally, we recommend starting at least 6 months before your wedding. Depending on your chosen printing method, we might need even more time. Many of our brides begin working with us one year in advance, but here is a good guideline for your schedule.

    • Save the Dates 3 months prior to the desired mail date (5-6 months before event).
    • Invitations 5-7 months prior to your desired mail date (6-9 weeks before event).
    • Day-of Materials 8-12 weeks prior to the event (delivery/ship week of).

If you're concerned about your timeline, please reach out, and we can discuss it in detail.

  • What is the difference between single envelopes and double (inner/outer) envelopes?

    • Single Envelopes: This envelope will have your return address on the back flap, and the invitation goes directly inside it. The postage stamp is placed on the front, along with the guest's name and address.

    • Double Envelopes: This consists of an inner and an outer envelope. The inner envelope holds the invitation suite and is ungummed. You can specify who is invited to the wedding on this envelope, making it a good place to indicate children's names if invited. The outer envelope has your return address on the back flap, and you place the stamp on the front along with the guest's name and address.

  • What embellishments do you offer?

Dream big, because if you can envision it, we can bring it to life! Our array of embellishments is as vast as your imagination. Here are some of the common options we offer:

    • Vellum (overlays, wraps, or bands)

    • Wax seals

    • Ribbons

    • Belly bands

    • Liners

    • Colored envelopes

And that's just the beginning! Let your creativity soar as we work together to design the perfect embellishments for your wedding stationery.

  • What factors influence the cost of wedding stationery?

The cost of your wedding stationery can vary depending on several factors, each tailored to your unique vision and preferences. Here's what influences the pricing:

    1. Design Complexity: The intricacy and complexity of your chosen design play a significant role in determining the cost. Elaborate designs, custom monograms, and custom artwork may require more time and resources to create, impacting the overall pricing.

    2. Printing Method: Different printing methods offer varying levels of quality and customization, each with its associated costs. Digital printing is typically more affordable, while techniques like letterpress, foil stamping, or engraving may incur higher costs due to their craftsmanship and premium finish.

    3. Additional Add-Ons: Customizations such as envelope liners, wax seals, ribbons, and specialty papers can enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of your wedding stationery. However, these add-ons may also impact the total cost, as they involve extra materials and labor.

By considering these factors and discussing your preferences with our team at Redbud Lane Studio, we can provide you with a transparent breakdown of costs tailored to your specific needs and budget. We're committed to crafting exquisite wedding stationery that reflects your style while ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience from start to finish.

  • How do I handle mailing and postage for my invitations?

We provide comprehensive guidance on mailing and postage, with the option for an upgrade to have us handle the mailing process for you, ensuring a hassle-free experience.

  • How can I streamline the stationery process?

Save time and effort by having Redbud Lane create all your stationery needs in, from save the dates to final departure. Comprehensive lists and proofs ensure each piece is consistent and accounted for, providing peace of mind throughout the process.

  • Why does the same color of digital ink, letterpress ink, and engraving ink look different when printed?

The appearance of the same color can vary across different printing methods due to several factors:

    1. Ink Composition: Digital inks, letterpress inks, and engraving inks have different compositions. Digital inks are typically dye-based or pigment-based and are applied in a thin layer, while letterpress and engraving inks are thicker and more opaque.

    2. Printing Technique: Each printing method applies ink differently. Digital printing uses a fine spray of ink or toner, letterpress printing involves pressing ink into the paper, and engraving involves etching the design into the paper, resulting in raised ink. These variations affect how the ink interacts with the paper and the final color appearance.

    3. Paper Absorption: Different types of paper absorb ink differently. Letterpress and engraving inks are often used on thicker, more absorbent papers, which can affect the color's intensity and hue. Digital printing is usually done on smoother paper, which absorbs less ink.

    4. Ink Density and Saturation: The density and saturation of the ink can vary with each method. Letterpress and engraving can produce more saturated colors due to the thicker application of ink, while digital printing may appear less saturated.

    5. Finish and Texture: The finish of the printed piece, whether matte or glossy, and the texture of the paper can also influence the perceived color. Engraving often results in a glossy finish, while letterpress typically has a more matte appearance.

These factors combined contribute to the slight differences in color appearance when using different printing methods.
